“I feel like I’m banging my head against the wall!”
Frustrated, indignant, and probably right, whatever it is you’re fighting for isn’t coming to fruition no matter how many times you try to progress. Nothing is changing,
I’ve got news for you, love: it’s not a wall, it’s a mirror.
The roadblocks you are facing are reflecting a piece of you that’s gotten off track. Ask yourself what need you have that’s not being met by this person/committee/work situation and explore how to redirect your energy to meet the need yourself.
Needs are intrinsically tied to values and we get triggered when our values are challenged. We expect certain behavior from those around us, especially superiors in the workplace, and when these expectations aren’t met, the banging of the head begins. We get sucked into workplace politics, inefficient systems, and toxic environments and can lose our way.
Lean into your values to help you through. Feeling mistrust from your boss? Lean into you value of transparency and seek clarification. Dealing with a two-faced colleague? Show up as your authentic self and speak truth. Angry at the direction a strategy is taking? Spend time with your passion and reignite your purpose.
And of course, if you really want to succeed, partner with a coach who will help you dig in and reach your full potential.
